www.extramilescotland.co.uk is new web platform for positive feedback
Want to know which Scottish café will serve you great coffee ten minutes before they close or if there is a pub in Scotland that will give your dog a free drink and a biscuit?
A Scotland-based tourism partnership recently launched a new website which gives visitors to Scotland this type of first-hand and helpful information. www.extramilescotland.co.uk, has been received with great acclaim from the Scottish tourism industry and was listed in Webuser Magazine’s Best New Websites listing for March.
The goal of www.extramilescotland.co.uk is to be the main site for visitors to Scotland who are seeking ‘believable’ comment on the Scottish tourism product. Importantly, it features only positive feedback and examples of high standards (going the extra mile) as experienced by consumers in Scotland.
“www.extramilescotland.co.uk is user friendly with real credibility,“ said Johanna Campbell, who along with her partner Gilbert Summers has created this website. “Most holiday decisions are now influenced by personal recommendations and consumers are now more knowledgeable and sophisticated. The traditional guidebook or travel article is being replaced by social networking websites such as ours because word of mouth recommendations are believable.
“This is our entirely own idea without any tourism grant aid or underlying tourism agency initiative – but we hope it will complement current trade drives such as the Pride and Passion and VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance schemes. Ultimately, we hope our website will assure potential visitors that good service is definitely being delivered and hence enhance their experience of Scotland.”
“This website is for the consumer by the consumer. If someone in the Scottish tourism industry or in a tourism-related business is exceeding expectations then we provide the platform for delighted customers to let other people know”.
Notes to Editors: Johanna and Gilbert have many years experience in the Scottish tourism industry. Gilbert is a writer and editor who has published books with the AA, HarperCollins, A & C Black and Simon & Schuster. He was the former Scottish editor for the New York based Fodor's Guides. Johanna worked for the Scottish Tourist Board for nine years in visitor services and press and public relations. She also worked for the National Trust for Scotland and has been in freelance tourism PR since 1994.
The site has been designed by Plexus Media, an award winning and dynamic Scottish company working in the field of accessible digital media.
